An expansive field of the I.T. market, computer-programming is also referred to as software-engineering or development. Programming has, of necessity, been around as long as the the computers that operate those programs. Without a software application, pretty much all electronic devices would just be dumb boxes that didn't actually do anything. There are actually programs within nearly every bit of technological hardware that you own. We might not always consider them as 'programs' but that is what they are - even your DVD-player contains an operating-system which allows it to function correctly. Think of the Navigation Menu that appears when you're watching a DVD - that's software, & so is the on-screen interface that you use to set a recording on your Television. The fact that you can see a film whenever you press play on a DVD or Blu-ray Player, is just a functionality of a bit of software which pulls the 1's and 0's off a disc, & then decrypts them directly into video 'information' at amazing speed.

C is generally the most commercially feasible 'languages' for the newer computer-programmer to begin studying. This 'language' is extremely disciplined, and therefore a number of others have developed from it. Once you've perfected how to program in C, you will find the transition to others is more intuitive. Its also the principle systems 'language', and one of Microsoft's leading supported languages both in 'Visual Studio' (the Microsoft 'development' environment,) and it's certification structure. Such a substantial promotion & broad certification selection from Microsoft simply serve to enhance the credibility of understanding 'C' at the beginning of any programming training-course. In fact, 'C' began daily life during the 60's (it wasn't actually known as C until the 1970's however.) It made the move to something called object-oriented C++ (this means the program is not only one, linear series of events - it can be a number of objects speaking with each other) during the 80's. When we moved into the new-millennium, the .'.Net' enabled adaptation was announced. This later came to be identified as C#, and is the variation we use now. MS produced a software framework which allows Windows programmers to have access to a wealth of pre written libraries. This is what the word .Net refers to, and it saves programmers significant amounts of time as so many of the elementary tasks are done for them.

Microsoft brought up to date their foremost qualification tracks a few years ago, with a move from the previous Microsoft Certified Application/Solutions Developer ('MCAD/MCSD') to the current 'Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist' ('MCTS') & 'Microsoft Certified Professional Developer' ('MCPD') examinations. Normally, there are 2 'MCTS' pre-requisite examinations before you move on to the complete 'MCPD' exam. If perhaps programming is going to be new to you, it's a good idea to start with a programming introduction course first - despite the fact that Microsoft brand their initial module a 'foundation unit'. You should also acquire a reasonable understanding of software-environments and software-support before any of it, so consider starting your studies by doing a support program.
